Essential Oils for Everyday Athletes + Armchair QBs (Fitnesss #4)

fitness Oct 05, 2020

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few years, you've heard about essential oils. Turns out, they SEEM new to us- but Eos are very, very old. And not 50 or 100 years old... you've got to go way back to the Egyptian pyramids and Bible and that type of old. But that's the subject of a different post for another time.

Here... let's just talk about what they ARE- not about how long they've been around.

Here's the quick cheat sheet...

First, EOs are the life source of the plant. Takes a lot of plants to make one bottle of legit oils (which is why a lot of *other manufacturers water theirs down or cut them with fillers).

Second, EOs are concentrated. This goes back to the point above. When you have the drop of oil, you have the full strength of ALL of those plants. There's a lot of power-packed into one drop.

Third, EOs are powerful. Makes sense that they would be, doesn't it? And shows you why you don't need much of it to go around. In fact... just a few drops does the trick. Every time.

(The info above comes from the JB + AJ book, Essential Oils 101, book 6 in the OilyApp+ “books you’ll actually read” series. Go to www.OilyApp.com/101  for more info or www.OilyApp.com/ThinkInsideTheBox to register for the FREE 21 Day Challenge and become an essential oil ninja.)

How to use them

There are three ways you can use your essential oils. See the charts and graphics on the oils for specifics on that they’re each best for…

✅ The first of three ways you can use essential oils is super simple: rub them on your skin and let them do their thing.

Your skin is the largest organ in your body. And, it’s full of holes, tiny pores which let sweat and toxins out and simultaneously allow other things in.

✅ The second way you can use essential oils is to breathe them.

Your skin is your largest organ, but your sense of smell is the strongest sense. It’s tied to the limbic system, where memories and feelings are stored.

Your limbic system is why you can smell something- Fall leaves, apple pie, or even a specific perfume- and a memory instantly arises in your soul. It’s also why hearing a certain song instantly transports you back to a different time and place. Your limbic system responds to words, smells, sound… all sensory input. Smell is the strongest, however, and it calls things from the PAST and intercepts things in the PRESENT, making an shift.

✅ The third way you can use essential oils is to ingest them. Now, two (brief, subtle, not intended to freak you out) words of caution before we discuss this third way to use the oils. I’ll defy James Bond’s wisdom to “never say never” on the first. And, I’ll give you a definitive on the second.

Never use a second-rate oil that you snagged from a bookstore, a big box retailer, or any place that specializes in anything except essential oils.

Always use Vitality oils when you ingest. These oils are easy to spot as they’re always dressed in white and trimmed with the same color as their “regular” oil counterparts.

For athletes and armchair QBs alike?

A few years ago, one of my girls played in a volleyball tournament. One of the gals running the tourney invited me to set up a vendor booth at the event...

I'd never done it before, but thought it would be a great time to try. After all, I was going to be there all weekend. So, why not give it a whirl.

I decided to lead with the Premium Starter Kit. So, I set a few on the table, tossed a few "flip kits" under the table, and rolled with it...

I made a graphic that showed people how to use the PSK for their young athletes.

(Yes, I know the PSK has changed since I made the graphic. And, rest assured, it will change again at some point!)

Here's why...

First, the PSK is the intro into Young Living. No sense in selling a single oil. Get them started...

Second, the PSK makes sense for athletes, b/c it makes sense for everyone...

But, this is key…

When you're an athlete, your body needs MORE support than the average guy or gal...

Think about it.

You push your respiratory system to the limits, you move your muscles and bones far beyond their limits, you do things that most people just can't do.

Let's take care of that awesome machine that you are. And let's do it without toxins and chemicals, and let's keep it fine-tuned and in tip-top shape so that you can go longer, stronger.

That said, a few people asked, "WHAT IF I'M NOT AN ATHLETE?"

"No worries," I told them. "This works the same for everyone..."

I covered the title of the graphic I made and showed them that THIS could be the Starter Kit for

* Working Moms
* Stay-at-Home Dads
* CEOs
* Soccer Moms
* Grandparents
* People with too much going on
* Young kids going to elementary school
* Dads working two jobs

That is, this works for anyone in any situation.

Everyone has bones, every body breathes, everyone sleeps...

Now, Young Living has updated the PSK since that tourney... but, you can make the swaps and see EXACTLY how to apply this.

(By the way, I made this video— https://www.oilyapp.com/pskathletes- in order to send to people who came by my table. I sold a lot on the spot, I sold some after they came back to the table after receiving a text message with my graphic in it...

it was an EXTREMELY successful event for us. In fact, the event was in January, and our paycheck for that month out-performed the paycheck we received for the month of December. Not bad for the time when business usually bottoms out, right?!)
